Swapping shoes in Romania
Romania is served by Step Swap through Packeta, with pickup points and home delivery reaching cities and towns across the country. If your feet take different sizes, you can match with a SoleMate in Bucharest, Cluj-Napoca or anywhere in Romania and ship the swap with no courier wait. Joining and browsing are free; you pay only when a swap proceeds.
How a swap is delivered in Romania
Domestic Romanian swaps run on Packeta. You can choose a pickup point or have the parcel brought to your home, and your SoleMate sends the matching shoe to your chosen option. Pickup coverage is strongest in the larger cities, while home delivery reaches the whole country.
Each swapper pays only for their inbound parcel, and the exact total is shown in chat before anyone confirms.
Cross-border swaps from Romania
Romanian swappers are matched across the serviceable area, so a SoleMate might be in Hungary, Slovakia, Poland, Czechia, Austria, Germany or France. Hungary is the closest neighbour and a natural cross-border partner.
Cross-border routes cost more than a domestic Romanian swap because the parcel travels further, but you still pay only for the shoe coming to you. Route prices are on the delivery fees page.
Shoe sizes and matching in Romania
Romania uses EU shoe sizing, so matching with the rest of the platform is direct. Step Swap pairs you with someone whose sizes mirror yours within about a one EU size tolerance.
Enter your left and right EU sizes once, and the search shows how many SoleMates already match before you sign in.
What it costs
There is no membership fee. Creating a profile, viewing matches and messaging are free, and you pay only when a swap completes and you need labels: carrier shipping plus a small flat shop fee.
Domestic Romanian swaps are priced for the local route; cross-border swaps scale with distance. The delivery fees page lists exact amounts.
Payments are handled by Stripe and held rather than charged immediately. If a swap is not completed in time, the authorization is released, so a swap that falls through in Bucharest or anywhere else costs you nothing.
