The Netherlands is part of Step Swap. If your left and right feet take different sizes, you can match with a SoleMate in Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Utrecht or anywhere in the country and see how many people already fit your sizes before you sign in. Browsing and matching are free, and you pay only when a swap proceeds. Swaps within the Netherlands and cross-border swaps with Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Portugal and the Central-European countries are supported today; when you send from the Netherlands you book and pay for the label yourself on our partner Packlink.
How a Dutch parcel is sent depends on the direction. When you send from the Netherlands — to another Dutch SoleMate or abroad — you book and pay for the label on our partner Packlink’s own checkout, then drop the parcel off; there is no in-app label to print for that leg.
A parcel coming into the Netherlands is handled in-app on Packeta, which hands off to the Dutch national post for home delivery. From Slovakia, Czechia, Hungary, Romania or Poland it ships on Packeta; from Austria on our Sendcloud carrier, and from Germany, France, Italy, Spain or Portugal the sender in that country books it on Packlink. Deliveries into the Netherlands are to the address: there is no Dutch pickup-point or locker option, so a Dutch recipient always receives at home or at work.
The Netherlands is a small country with a wide reach. Germany is the neighbour and the most frequent partner, France is a short route south, and Italy, Spain, Portugal, Austria and the Central-European countries (Slovakia, Czechia, Hungary, Romania, Poland) are all supported. You still pay only for the shoe coming to you.
The leg you send from the Netherlands is paid directly on Packlink when you book the label, so the in-app total for that leg is just the shop fee. The parcel coming to you is priced in-app — the amounts are on the delivery fees page.
The Netherlands uses EU shoe sizing, so matching with the rest of the platform is direct: a 42 in Rotterdam is the same 42 a SoleMate in Vienna or Bratislava enters. Step Swap pairs you with someone whose sizes mirror yours within about a one EU size tolerance.
Enter your left and right EU sizes once, and the search shows how many SoleMates already match before you sign in. Nothing is charged while you browse.
There is no membership fee. Creating a profile, viewing matches and messaging are free, and you pay only when a swap completes: a small flat shop fee in-app, plus carrier shipping.
For a parcel you send from the Netherlands, the shipping is paid directly on Packlink when you book the label, so the in-app total for that leg is just the shop fee. For a parcel coming to you, shipping is shown in-app; the delivery fees page lists the amounts.
Payments run through Stripe as a hold rather than an instant charge. If a swap is not completed within its window, the hold is released, so an unfinished swap costs you nothing.
